Sur Andrea

Born in a border region in Italy, he discovered theatre as his favourite form of expression at a very early age. At the same time, he learns from his grandfather the love for bricolage and invention. At the age of 17 he founded a street theatre company. At 21, he wrote and directed his first show, Radio Prince. It was there that he discovered a taste for creation.

In 2011 he graduated in Modern Literature with a thesis on Religious Mysteries. During his university years he worked as a technician and lighting director. In 2012 he discovers the Commedia dell'Arte and learns the methods of mask construction and movement with Claudia Contin Arlecchino and Ferruccio Merisi. In 2013 he meets the Clown with Gardi Hutter.

In 2015 he graduates from the Galante Garrone Theatre School in Bologna, which is followed by the Jacques Lecoq International Theatre School in Paris. Here he deepens his work on the mask, especially the neutral and expressive masks, dramatic acrobatics and the search for his clown.

In 2015, with his partner Martina Villani, he gives life to the Mavì Teatro company. From that moment on he begins a search for a craft theatre made of bodies, along with intelligent and necessary objects.
In the summer of 2016 they explore the theatre of shadows with Seme di Senape (Mustard Seed), a tale from Cambodian culture. In 2017 it is the turn of La Leggenda dell'Erimanto (The Legend of Erimanto), an original tale sung and juggled. In 2018 he teaches courses in gestural theatre at the University of Padua and in 2019 he creates in Paris a workshop of larval mask and half mask.

Since 2017 he is a founding member of the association First Round International Creative Platform.
